Cell Connectors
or Busbars

Introduction

Busbars, usually made of copper or aluminium, are crucial components in high-performance battery systems and the entire power distribution system.

These components are becoming particularly important with the increasing electrification of car and truck drives.

Manufacturing

The cell connectors are typically manufactured using a stamping and bending process. They offer the advantage that the usually small installation space within a battery cell can be utilised effectively.

LANG+MENKE has stamping technologies that enable the production of busbars with a sheet thickness of up to 2,5 mm. The particular challenge lies in the processing of the usually very soft raw materials. Careful selection of the individual components in the progressive dies and the processing parameters of the automatic stamping machines ultimately results in reliable production systems for cell connectors.
